Product innovation is vital to manufacturing companies in today's increasingly competitive environment. They must constantly look at ways to add value to their products while simultaneously reducing their manufacturing costs.

The Integrated Products Manufacturing Knowledge Transfer Network is able to support SMEs through this process through feasibility studies covering the following areas:

  • Innovation profiling: Using proven, existing techniques, the innovation profile diagnoses where change is needed to see through a successful innovation programme.
  • Strategy for technology acquisition: Helping you identify technology-acquisition priorities and how best to cost-effectively resource them.
  • Techno-economic appraisal: A good idea is not enough. A techno-economic appraisal allows a 'facts not opinions' appraisal of the potential of the product or process in terms of is manufacturability and its market attractiveness, prior to any capital investment.

Through these processes we will enable you to identify and prioritise areas for improvement and identify funding streams to turn the concepts into realities.

If you have a particular product or process development idea that you would like to discuss, please send us a query using the online feedback form or contact Rachel Spencer.
