Course in Micro and Nano Manufacturing
Tue 7th Jul 2009
The use of Micro and Nano Manufacturing Technologies (MNMT) in the UK is enabling manufacturing companies to gain significant competitive advantage particularly within the consumer electronics, automotive, healthcare and defence sectors. Whilst micro manufacturing is a more established discipline, nano manufacturing is still in its infancy and very much laboratory based by comparison.
The engineering challenges surrounding micro- and nano-manufacturing will be discussed including the
different technologies, processes and materials. In addition case studies will be presented which will demonstrate the potential impact of these technologies in delivering complex micro and nano scale product solutions.
This one day course comprises two sessions, morning and afternoon. The morning session includes seminars covering the following issues:
Overview of key micro and nano manufacturing
technologies
Materials and processes
Engineering challenges
Market overview and predictions
Case studies
The afternoon session gives delegates practical exposure to several key technologies in micro and nano manufacture, including:
Micro-milling
Micro laser processing
Micro injection moulding
Micro assembly
Micro and nano scale metrology
Nano scale machining
Nano scale deposition
Cost for this course is £35.00 per person. The event will be held at The University of Nottingham.
